Veto
Veto is 4 vs 4 multiplayer map inspired by Halo 3's Snowbound. Snowbound was not a very popular map and even I did not find it particularly fun but I had always loved the visual theme so I took that theme and made my own map in a similar style. The name derives from how often the original map was skipped in Halo 3 matchmaking, IE the map was "Vetoed"
The central base connects each area of the map together an can be used to rapidly switch from one area of the map to another. This makes it a very active spot for players and it helps to guide players into combat naturally. To encourage this, traversing the outer areas of the map is much slower.
During testing, it was revealed that the lower area of the map felt far to weak, so the floating sniper tower was added to provide more of an incentive to enter this area. This resolved the issue and it helped to act as a counter position to to the top of the base which was proving to be a little to dominant.
Veto proved to be a very simple design that did not require much iterating on at al.
Veto is designed around King of the Hill and other asymmetrical objective modes.
